How to Make Organic Lavender Body Powder

This powder is seriously awesome. You can use it for so many different things, and it's super easy to make!


You only need two ingredients:


  • Organic Arrowroot Powder
  • Lavender Essential Oil
Both are available through Mountain Rose Herbs.

Find a clean, airtight container to keep your body powder in. Add one drop of lavender essential oil per tablespoon of powder - you don't really have to measure. You can guesstimate and adjust depending on how strong you'd like it to be.

The reason I love this powder so much is that it's so versatile:

  • Use it as a body powder to stay smelling puuuurty.
  • Use it as a dry shampoo (works best on light hair.)
  • Use it as an all natural alternative to baby powder.
  • Use it to set your makeup...
  • ...or as an eye shadow primer.
No matter how you use it, a little goes a long way. Enjoy!

    1. I was thinking about that! I think a little baking soda added would make it a good powdered deodorant, and then also coconut oil or shea butter for something creamy. If you give it a try, report back! :)

  4. I have never heard of arrowroot powder. Dumb question but is it the same stuff as in arrowroot baby cookies?

    1. Hi Kristen! Not a dumb question, I actually had to look into this a bit. Arrowroot cookies have arrowroot flour. I believe they are the same thing. Arrowroot is marketed as both "flour" for baking and "powder" as a starch, but as far as I can tell they are the same. You actually helped me stumble upon a money-saving tip, because the flour is cheaper! Thanks for commenting. :)
